The 2018 Hatchback Hyundai Elantra - a Full Makeover for a Favorite Model

Hyundai makes a full line of great cars in a number of different styles, with a little something to please everyone here in the Twin Cities area. When it comes to shopping for a stylish, compact, hatchback, there are a few different options. But, the new, 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT, is giving them all a run for their money.

The Hyundai Elantra GT may share a name with the traditional Elantra sedan, but it's a fully unique model, with its own stylistic details and performance capabilities. At Buerkle Hyundai, we're happy to bring the redesigned and fun Hyundai Elantra GT for 2018 to our customers in the greater St. Paul area.

The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Trims and Engine Options

There are two trim levels and two engine options for drivers considering the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT, including:

  • 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Base trim. The entry-level model comes equipped with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that offers 161 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. Available with either a six-speed manual transmission, or a six-speed automatic, it comes with a long list of standard features, such as smartphone integration, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment interface, and a rearview camera.
  • 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Sport trim. Upgrades to a more-powerful, turbocharged 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine with an output of 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It keeps the same features as the previous model, plus it adds LED headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, a blind spot monitor, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver's seat.

In addition to the number of standard features on both trim levels, there are also a few packages that can be ordered to customize your Elantra GT the way you want it. With these available add-ons, you can get your Elantra GT with as many, or as few, bells and whistles as you want.

For the Elantra GT Base model, there's the option of adding a Style Package and a Tech Package. The Style Package includes a blind spot monitor, keyless ignition and keyless entry, rear cross-traffic alert system, and leather-wrapped steering wheel, among others.

The Base model Tech Package adds a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a navigation system, a wireless phone charger, and an automatically-dimming rearview mirror.

Finally, there's a Tech package for the top trim Sport, as well. This package adds automatic high beams, a warning system that detects driver inattention, automatic emergency braking, traffic-adapting cruise control, and a frontal collision warning system.

Safety Features of the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT

What Makes the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Different?

The Hyundai Elantra sedan underwent a major makeover just a couple of model years ago. For 2018, it's time for the Elantra GT to get its model update and refresh. The hatchback has been completely redesigned, and it comes with different exterior details than the traditional sedan.

The interior of the 2018 Elantra GT is also a big departure from the sedan version. The seats and dashboard are all designed to look different from the sedan, and the result is a model with a distinct European flair.
