If you're an devoted follower of Buerkle Hyundai's blog, you know that we frequently get to report on the recent sales achievements of our favorite South Korean automaker. However, today is a special treat because we get to inform our readers that last month, Hyundai achieved its best August sales to date!
To be specific, the brand's U.S. branch attained an all-time record of 66,101 new Hyundai model sales in August of 2013, reflecting an eight percent increase year-over-year. This achievement is even more exciting due to the fact that earlier in the year, the automaker's facilities were struggling to keep up with the high demands for their desirable models.
However, the brand is back on track as president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America, John Krafcik explains, "With our U.S. plants setting another production record in August, our dealers are seeing some inventory relief, with more car transporters unloading fresh new Hyundai models at their dealerships. Last month, we also saw the impact of improved Genesis and Equus availability, with Equus hitting an all-time sales record with the launch of the 2014 model and Genesis sales up 30 percent."1.
The Elantra, Santa Fe and Sonata are responsible for 75 percent of Hyundai's August sales success, which is up an impressive 18 percent from last year. The Elantra sold a total of 24,700 models in August, while the Santa Fe and Sonata sold 8,102 and 16,917 units, respectively.
