When you look at the Hyundai Genesis, its sleek body lines and sophisticated design make it appear as though it fits right in with luxury models. In fact, for years now it has been competing with top luxury sedans. To bring competition to the next level, Hyundai has now decided to dive into the luxury market by making the Genesis its own luxury brand.
How will this work exactly? The brand name will become Genesis, and the luxury sedans within the lineup will switch to an alphanumeric naming system. For example the Hyundai Equus, one of the first models to be launched under the Genesis brand, will hit the market sometime this year with the name of Genesis G90. The Genesis sedan will transform into the G80. In total, the new luxury brand is scheduled to release six models by 2020, all of which are designed with rear-wheel-drive architecture.
As for what comes next, the Genesis brand will not sell its models in separate dealerships. You'll be able to find the luxury models at Buerkle Hyundai and other stores across the U.S., they will simply be in their own separate showroom.
The Genesis lineup will receive a newly designed badge that really gives the brand its new identity. We're looking forward to seeing how the models evolve in the future. In the meantime, if you're interested in checking out the Hyundai Genesis, the catalyst model for the new luxury lineup, head on over to Buerkle Hyundai, your Twin Cities area Hyundai dealership.
