Hyundai has manufactured vehicles in the USA since 2005. The first vehicle produced in the United States was a 2006 Sonata, and since then Hyundai's American facilities have produced over 5 million engines and millions of vehicles, including a record 399,500 vehicles in 2013.

Hyundai is expanding its American manufacturing. In 2019, Hyundai opened a new $388 million engine facility in Montgomery, Alabama. The Tucson for the North American market is American-made starting with the 2022 model year, and the Santa Cruz pickup will be made in the Alabama plant beginning with its initial 2021 model year.
