Like almost all our services, our oil change service includes a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor. If you have problems with your repair, we will fix it at no cost to you. A few exceptions do apply so please call if you have questions.
What purpose does my car's motor oil serve?
A car's engine won't last even a few minutes without any oil in it.
Your car's engine is a highly complex piece of machinery, with countless small parts and components, all of which rub against one another as your engine turns at thousands of rotations per minute. The oil added to your vehicle's engine provides much needed lubrication to keep the engine from overheating. It also helps your engine get rid of residue and grime that would otherwise build up over time. When the oil is changed, this residue is removed, like draining the dirty dishwater.
If you simply don't change the oil, it will gradually become full of dirt and particles worn off your engine. Oil also breaks down over time from the heat and pressure of the engine. When oil doesn't do its job, friction wins and your engine will eventually destroy itself.
Problems with oil changes can include:
- Overfilling (adding too much oil)
- Underfilling (not enough oil)
- Incorrect oil filter causes oil leakage
- Incorrect oil type causes engine strain or does not lubricate properly
- Not replacing the filter regularly
What exactly happens when I take my vehicle in for an oil change?
Not every single oil change performed at every single service center is conducted with the same expertise and attention to detail. When you come into Buerkle Hyundai, you can rest assured that your Hyundai is in the very best of hands. We use only motor oil which is specifically approved for your vehicle's engine.
First, our team checks the levels and condition of the oil. Then, we remove the used oil filter and drain the used oil. Replacing the filter is essential, as particles trapped in the filter can otherwise contaminate your new oil, and the contaminated filter becomes blocked over time.
After we replace the filter, we refill the engine with new oil matched to your engine, to keep your car running safety and smoothly.
Each oil change includes an on-the-lift inspection of key maintenance items on your vehicle. We will never recommend a service we do not believe your car needs. We base our recommendations primarily on manufacturer recommendations, our service records for your vehicle, our inspection results, and long experience working with Hyundais in Minnesota.
How do I know when I'm due for my next oil change?
Minnesota is in Hyundai's Severe maintenance schedule area. For most Hyundais, the Severe conditions maintenance schedule recommends an oil change every 3,750 miles. For some models, the interval is 3,000 miles. In milder climates, if you are not frequently towing or driving on mountainous roads with long, steep grades, you can double these intervals.
